SEIU Local 73 members ask judge to order national union to hold local elections, and restore control of the local back to self governance.

After months of litigation in federal court, Thursday, April 12th, Judge Rebecca R. Pallmeyer ordered SEIU Local 73 to prepare for free and fair elections. Pallmeyer stated:

"Parties are encouraged to negotiate conditions for reasonably prompt resumption of local control, and free and fair elections."

This is a major victory for Local 73 members who have fought for Union democracy, and the return of their union to self-governance for almost two years. We should have elections by mid-summer, the next status hearing in front of Judge Pallmeyer is May 4th, 2018 at 9:30 AM.
